There are only 5 weekends until summer is over (I’m counting Labor Day weekend as the last weekend of summer). I want to make the most of them because I know when it’s snowing and freezing in January I will be yearning for the sunshine that I have now.
When it’s the end of any season, I’m bored of the current weather and ready to get on with the excitement of the new season. Especially at the end of summer, I am so ready for leggings, cardigans, pumpkin and apple everything; but I know I should take advantage of the time I’m currently in and live now, instead of in the future.
Things I want to do before this summer ends:
Visit the beach at least once a week. I live about a 20 minute drive from multiple Lake Michigan beaches, which are major beach destinations and I barely take advantage of it. I go see the sunset fairly often, but almost never go for a whole beach day. I need to do that at least once.

Have a picnic.
Host an end-of-summer party. We love hosting people at our house, and haven’t done it nearly enough this summer. I’m hoping to do this over Labor Day weekend.
Eat on the outdoor patio at Hancock. They just got voted best fried chicken and best new restaurant by a local magazine so I have to visit again.

Clean out garage. I want to clean it out before it gets too cold to do anything in the garage. I hope to put up organizational systems to hang up tools.
Finish cleaning out unfinished basement. Just like cleaning out the garage, I need to finish cleaning and organizing the unfinished (not heated) section of our basement before it’s too cold to be in there.
Have one last bonfire and burn all the wood we have left. I don’t want to store the wood over the winter, and our indoor fireplace is gas so we don’t need any leftover bonfire wood.
How are you savoring the last few days of summer?
