Podcasts to Listen to on your Summer Road Trip

Last fall I went on a roadtrip with my husband to Maine which is about a 15 hour drive. Part of the trip was through Canada and we don’t have international packages on our phones, so we didn’t want to stream music during that part of the trip. It was super helpful to have a couple hours of podcasts already downloaded to listen to during the boring parts of driving.

The Dream

Reviewed on Vanity Fair, this podcast was the talk of the podcast-town last year. If you haven’t had the chance to listen to it, this summer is a great time to catch up. Host Jane Marie talks about MLM’s and their influence on our modern culture.

Conan O’Brian Needs a Friend

Conan O’Brian talks with former guests on his talk show in a more relaxed setting which leads to more honest conversations than you would see on TV. This podcast has only been around since November 2018, but there are still plenty of episodes you can catch up on.

Couples Therapy with Candice and Casey

Candice (of Billy!) and Casey (of the vlogs) talk candidly about their marriage and family life. It is rare that people get this honest about their relationship in public that listening to them is refreshing.

Bad On Paper Podcast

Listen to Grace (of the Stripe) and Becca talk about the fiction books they have been reading. The focus of the show is about books, but they also interview guests about skincare, beauty, and style. They primarily read young literature/thrillers/romance and review the way you would in a book club. They will quickly become your “internet besties”.

Armchair Expert with Dax Shephard

Dax Shephard is an open book almost to a fault which gets his guests to open up about aspects of their life normally not discussed in celebrity interviews. Listen to discussions about life, love, and recovery that would normally only be told to a best friend or therapist. The show ends with a “fact check” where Monica Padman does research on everything discussed to get the story straight.

By the Book

Jolenta and Kristen read a self-help book and live by it’s principles for 2 weeks straight. I found this especially interesting because I’ve read a million self-help style books but never implemented everything in the book and really lived “by the book” like they do. Some books are really helpful and some are really problematic when you actually do everything they say. Jolenta and Kirsten are my new feminist, earth friendly role models and I can’t wait to listen to what they read next.

That Sounds Fun with Annie F. Downs

Annie interviews all your favorite Christian music stars and authors about what is going on with their life. Annie is bright as the sun and is an uplifting source of joy to listen to. She is currently doing a series on Enneagram numbers and I can’t wait to listen to the episode on 5’s!

Business Podcasts:

I don’t listen to these podcasts on a regular basis, but it’s they’re mentioning anyway. I find business topics to be fascinating, and all of these podcasts talk about a different aspect of business from entrepreneurship to marketing to financing.
