When the weather is finally nice in Spring, it’s easy to want to do everything you can outside.  It is also easy to focus too hard on your yard’s to-do list and forget about all the fun spring events happening in town. These are a few of the items on my bucket list this season, what’s on yours?

1. Fredrick Meijer Gardens Butterfly Exhibit

March 1- April 30

I have never been personally, but many of my friends have gone and really enjoyed this exhibit.

2. Tulip Time Festival

May 5-13

3. Festival of the Arts

June 1-3

Even though it’s called Festival of the Arts, it’s really all about the food and music. Ottawa Ave closes down and the street fills with concert stages and food stands. All the food stands are from local non-profits and they have fantastic food.

4. Vintage Street Market

Once a month on Sundays starting May 13

I’ve never been but I really want to go and see all the vendors!

5. Made in Michigan Pop-up Shop in Downtown Market

Once a month on Saturdays starting May 26

6. Walk or Bike (or both!) one of the local trails

We live close to Kent Trails and I want to ride my bike on it at least once a week.

7. Watch a Whitecaps game on one of their “Thrifty Thursdays”

It has been far too cold to watch a game outside recently, but it will warm up eventually and it will be nice to get fresh air while supporting a Grand Rapids sports team. It’s also the perfect time to try one of their crazy food additions they add every year.

8.  Food Trucks with a Twist at Downtown Market

June 6 from 4-7pm

The Downtown Market is hosting 7 food trucks and will have outdoor games you can play.

9. Visit GRAM to see Anila Quayyum Agha’s Intersections

They have a few different exhibitions this spring that would be cool to check out, but if you missed the installation of Intersections when it was at Artprize in 2014, this is the perfect time to check it out.

10. Eat dinner on the patio at Founders

Preferably on Thursday or Saturday while they have live music.
