My skin recently started freaking out because I’m on a new hormone medicine but I am trying to take as many steps as I can to make it calm the eff down. I have been reading the subreddit Skincare Addiction and they recommended this mask for people with Oily, Acne prone skin which is exactly what I have. If you haven’t been on their sidebar – you need to check out their product recommendations for your specific skin type.
Aztec Secret Indian Healing Clay is a powder clay that you mix with Apple Cider Vinegar to make a paste that works to extract oil from your skin. They say to use a non-metal bowl and spoon so I used a little Pyrex glass bowl and a small wooden spoon to mix up the mask.
Mixing up the mask can be difficult if you don’t put in enough liquid, or if you use water instead of apple cider vinegar. Apple cider vinegar helps neutralize the mask which makes it easier to mix and easier on your skin.
Fully mixed up, it is still thick so you’ll want to put it on with your hands instead of your pretty mask brush.
My face looks like a dinosaur or like a desert ground with the mask on. This mask gets so tight! By the end of the mask it will be hard to move your face to smile or talk.
The close-up picture no one wants:
And here is my after! There isn’t huge change between the before and after, but I can feel the difference and my skin is a little more glowy.
Downsides of this mask are: it’s messy, and it’s kind of a lot of work for a mask. Other people online have said that you don’t want to rinse this mask down the sink because it could clog up the pipes, but in the shower there is enough water flowing where it shouldn’t be a problem. It’s annoying to have to mix up the mask and it’s annoying to not be able to use a regular spoon.
Overall, I think it’s worth a shot to try out this mask and see if it works for you! It’s a fun way to put a little self-care into your routine to improve your skin.
